Diagnostics show a P1288 code which is not a ford fault code, so that is no help. have so far changed water pump, cam sensor, air flow meter and cleaned out EGR, all to no avail, so dont go to the expense of changing those. I have been told it could be cyclinder head temp sensor so will be doing that this week.

Well, the sensor seems to serve a purpose. Without it the climate control seems to have difficulties in maintaining the desired temperature inside the cabin. Yesterday evening, although the external temperature was in the teens, and I had set the climate control to 22 degrees, it kept blowing cold air, and quite strongly at that.

Mechanic has pulled fault codes linked to exhaust temperature sensors. Front sensor showing approx half resistance of rear, so I'm thinking the front is the knackered one. This sensor is green and as far as I can work out is part 12B591 BB. With both sensors pulled car still won't start.
O2 sensors comoly have 5 wires. 2 for a pre heater (this warms the sensor up to ge tit ot operating temperature). Once the ca ris wormed up the sensor may actually be working dueott the heat form the exhaust. The other 2 wires are for the sensor. I would expect to find an open circuit between the 2 heater wires.
